Originally founded in c1180 and then amalgamated with St Nicholas and St Katherine in 1203 to form St Thomas’. It was the only Canterbury hospital dedicated to the care of pilgrims. "It seems likely the twelve beds were maintained for the use of the poor pilgrims who were under the care of a woman aged at least 40." The Pilgrims were housed in the dungeon or undercroft. Upstairs is the refractory and a chapel.
